Mr. Wallace - The adopted Cat

In September 2014, after his previous "owner" moved out and left him, I adopted Mr. Wallace aka Fettbacke, Two-Tooth, Sweetie, Fluffy, Darling. Ever since he's been my sunshine, mice catcher, foot warmer, pain in the neck (when he's hungry, which he is almost always) and photo model.

I've never been a cat-person... but now that he's with me... I think he's the most cute tomcat I have ever seen. Here are some pictures to show how photogenic he is and some of his day to day life (basically eat, sleep, eat, sleep, hunt, eat, sleep, eat, sleep, play, sleep):

Dresden in Black & White - The Photo Book

In November 2012 I have moved back to Germany. Since then I have focused on "recording" my new home town of Dresden in Saxony. A wonderful city with so much to see and explore.

Light and Shadow. Leith Shore, Edinburgh - December 2011

11 December 2011. I had decided to visit Leith, Edinburgh's port. I did not know what to expect. Would there be photo opportunities? Boy, I was not disappointed. Leith shore has such an old world charme. I was also lucky with the light. Although freezing cold, the low sun created long shadows which gave everything a special magical and calm appearance.
Apparently Leith is becoming a trendy hotspot with two Michelin Star restaurants located here.

Holyrood Park, Edinburgh - December 2011

Photos from my walk/climb at Holyrood Park, Arthur's Seat and the Salisbury Crags taken on my visit to Edinburgh in December 2011

As you may have gathered, I'm not a big writer. Hence this post is stripped down to what I'm better at, which is taking pictures. All I can say about that walk is that the scenery is stunning, that it was ice cold, very windy and it there was a slight drizzle. Almost lost my fingers to the cold! I still haven't learned how to operate the camera with gloves on.

Enjoy this little photographic excursion!

Winter in the Ore Mountains - a long story

... and a long story it is indeed. Firstly there are lots of photos in this blog and secondly winters are usually long in the Ore Mountains (Erzgebirge).
The Ore Mountains, a region in Saxony, Germany (Map) are also called the Christmas Land (Weihnachtsland) because it's snow safe and has pretty little towns and villages that lie in valleys and are surrounded by forests.

Here is a selection of photos I've taken during my recent visit by my mum in Lauter. Lauter is my home town, which lies in.. can you guess... the Ore Mountains.

12 Feb 2012:
We are on an after lunch walk through the snowed in surroundings and the town. Morning temperature -18C. Midday temperature -5C. Bearable when wearing 3 layers of clothes and staying in the sun.

New Forest Autumn - in Black & White

Impressions from my 6 miles, 6 hours, 600 photos walk in the New Forest National Park, near Brockenhurst, Hampshire. No worries, you won't be seeing 600 pictures. I've selected the ones I like the best. Mainly trees... my favourite photo subject anyway... and I've chosen the ones with real character.

If you are interested in the walking route, the map and walk description can be downloaded here: http://www.hants.gov.uk/rh/walking/riverwalk-2.pdf
It takes you from Brockenhust train station, past St Nicholas Church, Roydon Manor, Newland Copse, Dilton Farm and Cottages, then along the Lymington river, onto Mill Lane back to Brockenhurst station.

Despite map, walk description and compass, I managed to get lost twice. But to my defence I must say that "at a large oak tree bear to the right; " is not very clear when you walk through an old oak tree forest. Nerveless, I got back on track soon and concluded the walk just in time for the next train that took me back home to Bournemouth.

And here are some of the photos I took along the way.
